If you’re new to our blog, you may notice that every post written before today contained vector art images. Our original aesthetic called for the fun, bright colors and often cartoonish depictions in our images. We loved the look and we think you were pretty happy with it too, but we’re making some changes.
As of today, we’ll be switching to photo images – we’ll still use vector art when we feel it’s needed and fits the situation, but overall, you’ll see more photos on these pages.
Why Are We Making These Changes?
After writing a lot of material (some published, some still waiting in the wings), we started struggling to find images we liked. It’s not that there isn’t an incredible wealth of such images – we used Freepik and there are a lot of talented artists on there. We just realized that what we were looking for and what we were finding weren’t always matching up.
Searching for images can be a lot of work when you actually care what the images look like.
Change is Good
It’s always important to remember that change is good. In life, sure, but in blogging even more so. It’s what blogging is built on – constant change, evolution, and growth. If you wanted something to stay the same, you’d build a website. If you want something to change, evolve, and grow with you (and your readers), you build a website with a blog.
I’m a firm believer in the idea that change is good. Sometimes in life, you have to adapt and change direction entirely (which we’ve already done once with this blog). Change brings out new ideas and sometimes can spur incredible things. I am hoping it will do just that for this blog.
We’re thrilled that you’ve been with us this long and we hope you’ll stay even longer. We have a lot planned for this site and this change is just one small step toward those plans.
